Discovery & Design

Design is something that all team members can contribute to, and is much bigger than how the thing looks. We are concerned with how our system should behave to achieve business outcomes and the experience that our users will have while using it, perhaps as part of a larger journey.

Design activities are also continuous and collaborative, not handoff-based, and need to be incorporated throughout our projects in order for us to succeed at "creating software humans love to use" .

They help us to:

  • better understand our users wants and needs to make better decisions
  • inspire
  • collaborate as a team and incorporate multiple perspectives
  • assess alternative approaches and test ideas in order to eliminate paths that will not likely be successful in achieving outcomes
  • define a direction
  • incorporate data and feedback into iterations of our products

While everyone will contribute with perspective and experience, UX Specialists will drive these activities by bringing their focused expertise to help facilitate collaboration, research, and produce deliverables that help to guide, align, and communicate these ideas.
